Event Description:
As a consultant, you know the software and related services you sell are
proven ways to deliver better software to customers quicker and cheaper.
Except too often software acquisitions end up costing more, taking
longer, and delivering less value than customers expected; and
consultants/sellers get blamed. Ironically, many software acquisition
failures are caused by buyers (and sellers) following mistaken
conventional wisdom "best practices," including ones institutionalized
in industry standards.
The typical software acquisition is performed by people doing it for the
first time. Usually, they copy what their predecessors did the previous
acquisition and simply perpetuate making the same mistakes. Some sellers
have been known to take advantage of the situation, including selling
assistance with acquisitions. However, rather than truly learning from
their experience, many consultants mainly offer software acquisition
assistance that merely repeats the same mistakes.
Robin Goldsmith, JD, describes more effective alternatives he’s been
uniquely positioned to design and apply.
Learn:
• The sad story of why many, if not most, software acquisitions continue
to fail
• Common conventional wisdom "best practices" that in effect undermine
acquisitions
• Ways to avoid such traps and acquire software successfully
